La Maison soutien aux aidants is a growing community organization, well established in the Granby area for over 30 years and with over 50 employees. Our mission: to prevent caregivers from burning out by offering them psychosocial support and respite. We’re looking for caring individuals to join our team of respite caregivers. YOUR MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the respite carer is to provide a caring presence and support for the activities of daily living of the person being cared for, in order to offer the caregiver a moment of respite with complete peace of mind. More specifically, the main duties and responsibilities are :
- To provide a safe and caring presence for a senior with a loss of autonomy, a physical disability, an intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder;
- Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs);
- Help with personal hygiene (partial bathing only) and bathroom (if necessary);
- Support the person being cared for in social activities;
- Support the person being cared for by accompanying them to medical appointments;
- Complete the logbook after each respite;
- Participate actively in the various meetings and training sessions offered;
- Perform any other related tasks.
THE PROFILE YOU’RE LOOKING FOR
- Enjoy working with clients living with a loss of physical or cognitive autonomy, a physical disability, an intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder;
- Be able to relate easily to people and create a climate of trust;
- Excellent communication, active listening and empathy skills;
- Adaptability and flexibility;
- Be autonomous, responsible and have a sense of initiative;
- Knowing how to make the right judgment, taking into account the stakes and impacts;
- Have a professional attitude, a sense of ethics and a concern for providing quality service;
- Be comfortable with bathroom assistance and partial grooming;
- Honesty, diplomacy, respect, integrity and loyalty;
- Be sensitive to the realities of caregivers;
- Assets: relevant experience with similar customers.
EXCEPTIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Schedule: Every afternoon, Monday to Friday;
- Part-time work: 20 hours per week;
- Hourly rate: $19.12 per hour;
- Reimbursement of mileage expenses;

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Completed secondary school diploma (SSD) or equivalent;
- Relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position;
- Written and spoken language: French;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a car, and be able to get around;
- Have a record of good social conduct verified by the police department relevant to the job;
- Assets: functional English according to customer needs, CPR, first aid and orderly courses.
