La Maison soutien aux aidants is a growing community organization, well established in the Granby area for over 30 years and with over 50 employees. Our mission: to prevent caregivers from burning out by offering them psychosocial support and respite. We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our team of respite caregivers for people living with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). YOUR MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the respite carer is to provide a caring presence and support for the activities of the
person living with an ASD, in order to offer the caregiver a moment of respite with complete peace of mind
. More specifically, these main tasks and responsibilities are :
- Accompany the person by ensuring a safe, reassuring and structured environment, while respecting the person’s routine and specific needs;
- Promote autonomy and well-being using approaches and techniques adapted to the specific needs of people living with ASD;
- Prevent disruptive situations by adopting a calm, caring approach based on behavior management strategies for people living with ASD.

- Have a professional attitude, a sense of ethics and a concern for providing quality service;
- Be comfortable with bathroom assistance and partial toilets;
- Honesty, diplomacy, respect, integrity and loyalty;
- Be sensitive to the realities of caregivers;
- STRENGTHS: Functional English according to customer needs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Completed college diploma in Special Education Techniques or equivalent in a related discipline. Any combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent may be considered;
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar position;
- Be available a minimum of 20 hours per week;
- Written and spoken language: French;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a car, and be able to get around;
- Have a record of good social conduct verified by the police department relevant to the job.
